APSSRDI is one of the pioneer institutions involved in Sericulture R&D having not only national but also international repute in the development of transgenic silkworm breeds which is first of its kind in the country.
Objectives
•To develop human resource in the academic and applied aspects of sericulture.
•To develop the broad area would be insect resistance/physiology/breeding and genetics&Genomics/biotechnology/Molecular biology/ recombinant DNA technology/Bioinformatics & related research areas.
•Exchange of genetic material/genotypes of silkworm to carryout research leading to Ph.D. degree.
•Formulation of collaborative projects for external funding to attract JRFs to undertake applied research. Students/Scholars of GITAM University and APSSRDI can make use of each other's lab facilities.
